Dr. Murphy is a golf mental game coach. He teaches mindfulness techniques essential to peak performance. Dr. Murphy also has a long-running clinical psychology practice focusing on children, adolescents, and young adults, as well as 12 years experience in special education. Dr. Murphy’s mental game skills, psychology background, and breadth of experience working with youth have enabled him to work successfully as a mental game coach for many junior, high school, and college golfers.

Dr. Murphy refined his approach to mental game coaching while working with his mentor and associate, Dr. Joseph Parent, founder of Zen Golf. He is recognized by Performing Edge Coaching International as a Certified Performing Edge Coaching Professional in Sports Psychology and Peak Performance. Dr. Murphy is also certified as an advance sport psychology coach by the American Sports and Fitness Association.

Dr. Murphy participates in the annual Perry Parker Invitational at Pebble Beach to support the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California. This Pro-Am draws on Senior pros from the United States, Australian Legends Tour, and beyond. He also participates in local SCGA-sponsored events. Dr. Murphy’s background makes him uniquely qualified as a golf mental-game coach.
